Reflecting On 2020

By Alexey Khitrov, President and Co-Founder, ID R&D

Most of us won’t look back on 2020 and say, “That was a great year!” The pandemic has strained people physically, financially, and emotionally.

From a business perspective, it has tested entire industries in unprecedented ways while creating opportunity and growth for others. And nearly everyone has adapted to “business as usual.” While we may be anxious for some things to go back to the way they were, others will become the new normal. The silver lining is that 2020 has been a catalyst for innovation, reinvention, and lasting transformation.

I am thankful for the health and resilience of the ID R&D team. As a company, we made significant advancements this year while working remotely and virtually serving a growing number of clients around the world. We also experienced exponential growth despite the challenges.

This year it’s more important than ever to celebrate our wins. Following are some ID R&D achievements that we are particularly proud of.

iBeta Level 2 PAD ComplianceiBeta Level 2 PAD Badge
In September, IDLive™ Face became the world’s first and only passive, single frame facial liveness detection product to be awarded iBeta Level 2 Presentation Attack Detection Compliance in accordance with ISO/IEC 30107-3. Tested on both Android and iOS devices, IDLive Face had a perfect score on the Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) conformance testing with zero attacks getting through.

Next-Generation Voice Biometrics
In 2020, our partners deployed large-scale contact center solutions leveraging ID R&D voice biometrics for both real-time authentication and fraud detection at major banks and telcos.

This year we also capitalized on our unique R&D capabilities and strong results in the NIST speaker recognition challenge to bring voice biometrics to edge devices with accuracy that was previously impossible. In 2021 we will continue to make advances around voice biometrics for chips, phones, and IoT devices.

Global Growth
ID R&D just celebrated its four year anniversary in November. If you missed our birthday celebration video, watch it here.  We’ve come a long way fast. Today, our products are used in more than 35 countries with our passive facial liveness powering millions of liveness checks.

Technical Challenges and Competitions

More recently, ID R&D finished in the top 3 out of 53 teams in the VoxCeleb Speaker Recognition Challenge.

Congratulations to the team for a great year, and a sincere thank you to our customers and partners. We look forward to engaging with you more deeply in 2021 and sharing some exciting new capabilities. As always, your feedback and suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated!

Cheers to an amazing New Year!
